About
Working with a mentor is a tried and tested way of developing and enhancing your career. This 90 minute session focuses on those benefits and how to access them, and is for anyone who would like to:
- Hear about the benefits mentoring conversations can bring for career development;
- Learn how to find, approach and work with a mentor productively;
- Discuss and critique the skills of mentoring, and gain new ideas for working one to one with colleagues, that will also benefit your work with students.
This session will be led by Dr Kay Guccione. Dr Guccione is a Senior Lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and specialises in mentoring for academic development. Her research and blog investigate the doctoral student experience and supervisory practice, and she has published on trust, early supervisor development, the ‘value’ of the doctorate, and on supporting research writing through mentoring.
