As part of our commitment to developing, expanding and strengthening the vast networks and opportunities available to our members and local communities, the Microbiology Society is pleased to announce the latest event led by our President, Professor Judith Armitage as she continues her journey around the UK and Ireland.

The event will take place on Tuesday 28 April 2020, at Hughes Hall, Cambridge, in the Peter Richards Room, from 15:00–17:30.

At each event, delegates will have an opportunity to:

  • Meet the President, Professor Judith Armitage.
  • Engage in interactive topical related discussions.
  • Network with local like-minded individuals.
  • Find out why microbiology and being part of the Microbiology Society matters.
  • Learn how you can get more involved in Society activities, including our 75th Anniversary in 2020.
  • Meet the Microbiology Society team.

Help us celebrate our 75th anniversary

To celebrate our 75th anniversary we will be toasting the anniversary year with a celebratory cake and light refreshments.

ALL roadshow events are FREE to anyone who would like to attend. Early registration is recommended as places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Professor Judith Armitage

Professor Judith Armitage FRS, is from the University of Oxford and is currently President of the Microbiology Society. Her Presidency runs for three years and began on 1 January 2019. Judy joined the Society as a PhD student in the early 1970s. She is a bacterial physiologist using interdisciplinary approaches to study bacterial behaviour. She was an editor of the Journal of Bacteriology for 10 years and is currently one of the two Editors in Chief of Current Opinions in Microbiology. She is a member of EMBO, a Fellow of the American Society of Microbiology and the Royal Society of Biology. She was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2013.
