Abstract

Gain practical insight into optimised, end-to-end workflows for microbiome sample preparation designed to handle highly complex and heterogeneous matrices. These workflows integrate validated bead-beating homogenisation using FastPrep® instruments with optimised Lysing Matrix tubes and high-performance DNA and RNA extraction kits. Engineered to process diverse biological and environmental samples, these methodologies consistently deliver high nucleic acid yields and inhibitor-free DNA and RNA suitable for downstream molecular applications, including quantitative PCR (qPCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS).The FastDNA® SPIN Kit for Soil—widely recognised as a gold-standard and extensively cited in the literature—is showcased through multiple peer-reviewed case studies demonstrating superior performance across environmental, food, plant, and gastrointestinal matrices. The workflow is further enhanced by MPure™ automated extraction platforms and magnetic bead–based kits, offering scalable and standardised solutions that improve reproducibility, reduce hands-on time, and enable high-throughput microbiome analyses. From sample lysis to nucleic acid quantification and quality assessment, the process is fully supported, including analysis using our new microvolume spectrophotometric platform.
