Phacoemulsification Handpieces are a very common item for decontamination in most hospitals requiring attention to detail and further guidance. IHEEM has recently published guidance in the decontamination of these devices.  This presentation will initially detail some of the potential pitfalls from examples and discuss the remedies included within the IHEEM guidance which includes the MHRA alert considerations to ensure robust safe decontamination of these devices.
