Access Microbiology, the Microbiology Society’s newest journal, has published its first research articles.

Access Microbiology was announced in September last year to provide a new service to the microbiology community.

Watch our film about Access Microbiology to find out more about the journal:

We have been overwhelmed with the positive response the journal has received and we are excited to share the first articles to be published, which include the following titles:

  • A short communication on how cell wall inhibitors increase the accumulation of rifampicin in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Tanya Parish et al.).
  • A case study looking at Cutaneous geotrichosis due to Geotrichum candidum in a burn patient which describes the presentation, diagnosis and treatment of this uncommon mycosis (Philip McDonald et al.).
  • The analysis of the genome sequence of a temperate phage (Dobby) isolated from a strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa cultured from a kidney stone (Catherine Putonti et al.).
  • An assessment of urinary pharmacodynamics of the antimicrobial drug faropenam against extended spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli using a canine model (Kazuki Harada et al.).
  • A case study highlighting the management and duration of therapy of multidrug resistant Mycobacterium abscessus in pulmonary disease (Urvashi B Singh et al.).

You can find out more about the journal’s aims and scope, as well as its Editorial Board on the journals website, and you can submit an article online via our submissions system.
