The Microbiology Society has compiled a stress toolkit for members so they have some guidance on how to access support when under pressure.

In research settings, demands and pressures can come from all angles. We consulted mid-career members of the Society earlier this year to ask about the factors that affected their work and career progression. Many suggestions were related to career advancement; however, feedback also included specific factors, including the impact of increased workload and competition for funding leading to stress. Published evidence has shown that this is not solely related to mid-career researchers.

The toolkit aims to help guide members to evidence-based resources so they can find out more about stress, with signposts to resources and support from professional organisations.

The stress toolkit is available in Mi Society for members to access.
