Members of the Microbiology Society will be presenting their work during the Junior Awards for Microbiology meetings in the upcoming months.

Junior Awards for Microbiology, also known as JAM talks, is a monthly seminar series aimed at integrating and connecting young researchers. At each event, two junior researchers (PhD students or up to 3 years post-PhD) are invited to present their work to an audience of other early career scientists.

The JAM talks were organised with the aim of creating a junior researcher led seminar series where early career microbiologists could build confidence in presenting their research to an audience of fellow junior researchers from a wide range of microbiology. At the end of each series a winner of the best talk is selected and invited to speak at a local conference.

The JAM talks are held at the School of Bioscience/School of Geography, University of Birmingham under the lead of Microbiology Society Champions Alice Lanne and Anja Dokic, and in addition to the Microbiology Society, are also sponsored by the Institute of Microbiology and Infection.

The talks are open to attend for Masters students, PhD students and junior Post-docs from the Institute of Microbiology and Infection, and anyone from the universities in the area who are interested in Microbiology.
