New and improved MiSociety area and new database

05 January 2018

You may have noticed that there have been some changes on the website, particularly when joining, renewing or booking for an event.

Behind the scenes, the Society has been updating its systems to help support the aims and objectives of the organisation and its members, by improving the online services and moving to a new, improved database.

The Society's new database holds all events data, membership data and grants data in one place, and the online area has been revamped so it is easier to use. There are new payment options to increase your security online, and you can now join, renew your membership, and book for an event. There is a new Membership Directory in place, as well as a way to update your details and choose the communications you would like to receive from us. You can now also apply for grants and claim for your grant online too.

When you next login, you will need to change your password by choosing the 'Reset password' option and submitting your email address to receive an email with a link to reset your password.

You can then login and, depending on how much time you have, do the following:

  • Two minutes – Under the ‘Update my details’ section, select the communications you would like to receive from us.
  • Five minutes – Also under the ‘Update my details’ section, select all the interest and expertise groups that you would like to appear in the Membership Directory, or renew your membership online if it's due.
  • Ten minutes  – Add a photo and include a brief biography to appear in the Membership Directory, or plan and book for the Annual Conference 2018.
  • Fifteen minutes – Start your Harry Smith Vacation Studentship grant application.

The new MiSociety area will expand over the coming year to help support the work that you do and give you a better membership experience. The systems have only just launched so please get in touch if you encounter any issues while we in the early stages of the changeover.
