Energy from food waste

12 January 2015 publication

In the UK, around 40% of food waste ends up in landfill, which results in the release of greenhouse gas and the loss of a valuable energy source. Anaerobic digestion is a biotechnology that can be used instead to break food waste down into biogas, which can be used as a sustainable energy source, or transport fuel.
