05 November 2015 publication

The Microbiology Society, together with leading biomedical research organisations, learned societies, industry representatives, universities and patient groups, has signed a pan-European statement supporting the European Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. The statement is coordinated by the European Animal Research Association and can be viewed their website.

The Society also signed a similarly worded joint statement in May 2015, which was coordinated by the Wellcome Trust in response to the Stop Vivisection European Citizen’s Initiative. The Wellcome Trust statement can be downloaded from their website.
