The 2016 Microbiology Society Prize Medal has been awarded to Philippe Sansonetti
16 February 2017
Professor Philippe Sansonetti played a central role in the development of a vaccine for Shigella. His work has since led to other important discoveries about the key processes used by bacteria to subvert eukaryotic cells for their own growth. As such, he is considered a global leader in his field and has been awarded the Prize Medal for the impact of his work. He delivered his talk entitled Decrypting microbe–host signals in the intestinal crypt: from homeostasis to pathology on Tuesday 22 March 2016 at the Annual Conference in Liverpool.
