“Microbes, Mechanisms & Modulation: A Primer on the Gut Microbiome”

This webinar provides a concise overview of the gut microbiome, including its key microbial members, functions, and the factors shaping community structure. We’ll then discuss how microbiome composition and activity can influence host responses, such as metabolism, immune regulation, and resilience to infection, and what this may mean in the context of health and disease. Finally, we’ll introduce major classes of interventions that can modulate the gut microbiome, setting the scene for the next webinar, which will explore some of these approaches in more detail.

“Industry Approach to Probiotic Safety Assessment for Use in Dietary Supplements”

In this webinar, we will share IFF’s approach to probiotic safety assessment and we will outline the key elements and considerations including genomic, in vitro and animal safety. As an example, we will focus on the specifics as they relate to the development of a next generation probiotic candidate in terms of understanding taxonomy, mechanism of action, colonization, and microbiome modulation and functionality with a view of informing safety and efficacy.
