Online Seminar Series

The Society runs a wide-ranging programme of online seminars to disseminate scientific knowledge and skills training to our membership and the microbiology community as a whole. Regular seminar series and stand-alone events complement our programme of in-person events.

AMR in Focus Series

AMR in Focus is an online event series, launched as part of the Knocking Out AMR project. The series zooms in on some key solutions to the AMR crisis. The events alternate between educational sessions to provide key skills in engaging across sectors and scientific sessions bringing you up to date on cutting-edge research across the Knocking Out AMR priority solution areas (diagnostics and surveillance and therapeutics and vaccines).

Journal of Medical Microbiology (JMM) Seminar Series

A monthly seminar series from the Journal of Medical Microbiology (JMM) that is designed to disseminate high-quality and timely research from the journal’s key authors, editorial board members and renowned scientists. JMM welcomes everything from laboratory research to clinical profiles, including bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology. The seminar series reflects this same comprehensive scientific content.

Safe Microbiome Perturbations Series

The Safe Microbiome Perturbations Series is a 3-part online event series due to take place from January to March 2026. Each webinar spotlights a different human microbiome—skin, gut, or oral—and dives into how everyday interventions like cosmetics, food and medicines including probiotics, and daily oral hygiene affect them. Discover how the latest safety science could help assess the potential impact of microbiome changes on our health from leading academics and industry experts.

AMR Innovation Exchange (AMRIX) Webinar Series

As part of the Microbiology Society's Knocking out AMR project, the Microbiology Society and the GAMRIF team at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) present the AMR Innovation Exchange. This rolling online webinar series will bring together innovators, regulators, manufacturers, and clinicians working around the globe on AMR-relevant products and programmes of work.

Publishing Fundamentals Webinars

Our Publishing Fundamentals programme is developed for Early Career microbiologists and those who want to better understand how academic publishing works, including how to get involved with the Society’s journals as authors, editors, or reviewers. The Publishing Fundamentals webinars will offer attendees the opportunity to learn from publishing specialists from Society staff and research scientists who are experienced editors across the Society’s journals and have an active role in shaping our publishing portfolio and assessing papers submitted to our journals.
