Antibiotics Unearthed Citizen Science Project: Brecon Beacons

09 Aug - 10 Aug - Garwnant Visitor Centre, Brecon Beacons, Merthyr Tydfil

As part of Antibiotics Unearthed we are running a Citizen Science Project. The aim is to engage the public, through a practical-based soil activity, with the global issue of antimicrobial resistance and address some of the challenges associated with the discovery of novel antibiotics. A series of ‘pop-up’ events will take place at locations across the UK in 2016.

Overview

At the Brecon Beacons, we will be setting up at the Garwnant Visitor Centre. On arrival at the stand, the public will be able to take part in some activities about the search for antibiotics and antibiotic resistance. Then, people interested in contributing will be given a sample pot to take on their walk around the forest, to collect a sample and then follow their results.
