Who We Are

We are a membership charity and a not-for-profit publisher. Our members are scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. We support and invest in the microbiology community for the benefit of everyone. Our principal goal is to amplify our members’ voices, wherever they are in the world.

  • Aims and objectives

The Microbiology Society has a vision and mission around which we base our strategy. Our members have a unique depth and breadth of knowledge about the discipline. The Society’s role is to help unlock and harness the potential of that knowledge.

  • Our Governance

As a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, the Microbiology Society's Council bears legal responsibilities. The Society also has a number of committees, including Division Committees.

  • Publishing for the Community

We are not for profit – publish with us to benefit your community. As a Society publisher, we are not for profit and everything we offer our community happens thanks to the revenue generated by publishing.

The Microbiology Society supports greater diversity within the field of microbiology.
