Strengthening Regulatory Systems to Address Antimicrobial Resistance: A Caribbean Perspective
This presentation will examine the critical role of effective medical-products regulation in addressing antimicrobial resistance in the Caribbean. It will consider how stronger regulatory systems can support the quality and appropriate use of antimicrobials through market authorization, supply-chain oversight, pharmacovigilance, prescribing and dispensing controls, and post-market surveillance. Drawing on the Caribbean context, the presentation will also explore regional challenges, opportunities for regulatory cooperation, and the importance of integrating regulation into antimicrobial stewardship and the wider One Health response.
