Annual Conference 2025 – A social media outlook

Posted on April 10, 2025   by Leisha Wan

On 31 March - 03 April 2025, we hosted the Annual Conference 2025 at ACC Liverpool. We’ve turned to X and Bluesky to look back at some of the highlights!

The conference took place over three days alongside around 530 poster presentations, 70 invited speakers, and 240 offered talks. We are grateful to all our Prize Lecture winners, delegates, exhibitors, poster presenters, speakers, session Chairs and organisers for helping to make Annual Conference 2025 a success.

We were pleased to welcome over 1,250 registered delegates and to see how excited the whole community was for #Microbio25!

A lovely warm welcome at ACC Liverpool, We recognised a few familiar faces...

New to Bluesky, but not to #microbio25 - great to be back at Micro soc and back in Liverpool 😁 Come say hi!

Francis enjoying his first-ever international conference!

I have been enjoying my first international conference so far. Thanks @microbiologysociety.org for the travel awards. While I have gained communication skills, I have equally listened to great talks and met some incredible people #microbio25

Dr Houldcroft having fun water rafting while at #Microbio25:

Who needs a lab coat when you’ve got a Microbiology Society-themed bowtie?

Seen a few dapper gents at #Microbio25 in waistcoats and good shoes. Well In. Maybe there's a market for an MSoc necktie/bowtie @MicrobioSoc

Poster day for me, so this was literally the first protocol I googled this morning. I decline to answer on the number of attempts. Still time to see me at A303 in the second session- learn how to make your research accessible to secondary school students (I guarantee it's possible!) #Microbio25

Scientific Sessions

The scientific sessions at #Microbio25 featured a mix of symposia, workshops, and presentations from both invited and submitted speakers. They offered a fantastic platform to highlight research from early career and experienced microbiologists alike.

Here are some highlights below:

Thank you!

On behalf of everyone at the Microbiology Society, we want to say a huge thank you to all who attended, presented and helped Chair and co-Chair sessions at Annual Conference 2025. We hope you enjoyed the Conference as much as we did, and we look forward to welcoming you back for Annual Conference 2026 in Belfast!

Massive thanks to all the staff of our society for another excellent conference… now time to return the favour by publishing in journals run by a society that supports us with grants and events like this! #Microbio25 @microbiologysociety.org

Thanks for a great week @microbiologysociety.org, we had a blast at the #Microbio25 Annual Conference in Liverpool! A lovely full circle moment bringing my own PhD students to the conference nearly 15 years after my first Microsoc conference as a student!
