Overview

The AGM is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the work of the Society over the previous year, to understand its financial position and to thank those who stand down from our Trustee Board, Advisory Council, Committees and Divisions in December. In keeping with our values of being transparent and professional and true to our charitable aims, the AGM presents the 2024 Annual Report, gives members the opportunity to see how our resources are applied and is an opportunity to ask our Trustees questions about how the organisation is managed. We also celebrate the future and look at what is to come for the remainder of the 2023-2027 strategic period and welcome the incoming members to the governance structure!

As a membership charity and not-for-profit publisher, the Society supports and invests in the microbiology community for the benefit of everyone. We rely on the involvement and commitment of our members who support us to be able to continue our work, so please consider publishing with us or getting involved via a range of opportunities – you can find out more via our website

All Members are invited to attend and speak at all general meetings of the Society, though only Full, Full Concessionary, Post Graduate Student and Honorary Members may vote.

Members wishing to appoint a proxy should submit their appointment by 16:00 GMT on Tuesday 4 November 2025. Full information about how to submit a proxy appointment is available in the AGM 2025 Notice.
