Overview

The Microbiology Society are delighted to be delivering the next meeting on Candida and Candidiasis in 2020 which was formally delivered by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) as part of their highly successful conference series that finished in 2018.

This meeting will take place at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel, Canada between 19 and 23 April 2020, and will address all aspects of Candida biology – species that are major causes of infectious disease in AIDS patients, cancer chemotherapy patients, premature infants, and many others and will provide a vital forum for the Candida research community to present the latest advances and ideas about:

  • The diagnosis and treatment of Candida infections
  • Antifungal drug resistance
  • The genomics and epidemiology of the Candida clade
  • The molecular mechanisms that underpin Candida pathobiology
  • The immunological responses of the host to the fungus

This meeting will be driven by the community, with most talks being selected from the submitted abstracts and will help determine the course of future research in this area and empower major ongoing efforts to understand, treat, and prevent Candida infections.

Organising committee:

Chair

Abstracts

Abstract submission for Candida and Candidiasis 2020 is now open. Submissions close on 9 January 2020.

Submit your abstract

Both members and non-members of the Microbiology Society are welcome to submit an abstract for the meeting. All offered oral presentations and posters will be selected from the abstracts submitted. Once submissions are closed, they will be reviewed by the organising committee and submitters will be notified of the outcome by email. By submitting an abstract to this meeting, you are indicating to the session organisers your commitment to attend the event.

Abstract guidance

Abstracts must be a maximum of 250 words. The Society has produced a guide to give delegates some tips on how to write a great abstract, which can be downloaded below:

Please note that the abstract is the only information session organisers use when deciding whether to accept your work for presentation as an offered oral or poster. If accepted, it will also be published in the abstract book for the meeting – so think carefully about what needs to be included.

Abstract topics

Abstracts are welcomed on the following topics:

  • Life in the host
  • Genome dynamics, variation and evolution
  • Infection models
  • Metabolism
  • Fungal and host signalling
