Annual Conference 2022: one month to go
04 March 2022

There’s only one month left until Annual Conference 2022, the Society’s first in-person annual meeting since 2019. The Society is delighted to be going back to Northern Ireland’s capital city, Belfast, which will host the meeting in its International Convention Centre.
Annual Conference features an extensive programme designed to cover the breadth of microbiology, as well as professional development sessions, social activities and plenty of networking opportunities. The event will be running 4–7 April 2022.
Getting around
Belfast is well connected by road, rail and ferry, and with two local airports, the city is accessible by air from both UK and international destinations.
The city is very walkable, but you can also get around easily via a useful public transport network provided by the public bus company Translink. Public bikes are also available to hire, with over 30 docking stations across the city centre.
The ICC Belfast is located within a short walking distance of Belfast Lanyon Place train station. You can also access the city centre and a number of attractions nearby.
Belfast attractions
Belfast is a city rich in culture and history – the perfect destination if you’re looking to extend your stay.
The city’s Cathedral Quarter is packed full of historic architecture and has a host of fabulous pubs, bars and restaurants. Other popular attractions include the Titanic Museum, the Alexandra Graving Dock and Belfast City Hall, one of Belfast’s most iconic buildings. Learn more about the city and plan your visit on the Visit Belfast website.

Creche
The Microbiology Society is again teaming up with Nipperbout to provide a free crèche at Annual Conference 2022.
The crèche will be available to any delegates’ children between the ages of 0 and 12 years.
All registered delegates will be offered the opportunity to make use of these free childcare services, which will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. More information and details on how to book can be found on the event page.
Please note that the crèche will be closed for lunch and parents are responsible for providing food for their children. Lunch is not provided by the Society or the crèche as part of this offer. It is also imperative that you collect your child/children at lunchtime as the staff require a half-hour break. Water and healthy snacks will be available during crèche hours.
Nipperbout is an award-winning event childcare company with over 25 years of experience. For more information, visit Nipperbout’s website.
