Important information for our members: pause of membership transactions online

12 January 2026

At the Microbiology Society our members are at the heart of everything we do. We work to ensure your experience – be it registering for one of our events, applying for a grant with us, or simply renewing your membership – is as seamless as possible.

We previously communicated on our website that as a member you will see changes to the membership area of the website and to other core transactions, including how you manage your profile and other information, events bookings, grants applications and membership renewal.

Pause of membership transactions

Ahead of the launch of the new membership area, we will temporarily pause event bookings, grant applications, membership renewals, and updates to member profiles in your current membership area (MiSociety).

This means that from 17:00 (UK time) on 13 January 2026 until 27 January 2026, you will not be able to:

  • Register for any of our events
  • Renew or change your membership
  • Apply for a grant or submit a grant claim
  • Amend your profile details
  • Make a donation.

New membership area – logging in

When we launch your new membership area on 28 January 2026, your previous credentials – as used to log into MiSociety – will need to be reset to gain access to the new members area.

This will be easy to do, and we will provide full instructions when we go live.  Please look out for further email communication from us about this shortly. All your previous membership information will be available in the new area once you are logged in.
