The Microbiology Society are delighted to be hosting the Federation of Infection Societies Conference (FIS 2019) at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre between 11–14 November 2019. This year there are several new sessions for trainee and early career scientists, including a new prize opportunity.

The conference provides a great opportunity to find out about the latest developments on various aspects of infection diseases, clinical microbiology, biomedical science and infection control. It also offers the chance to present your research, network and continue your professional development. You can do this by attending tailor made professional development sessions and by submitting your abstract for the education and training topic.

The Collaboration Catalyst session on the first day of the conference gives attendees the opportunity to speak about their experiences and share practices on working in different areas of the infection prevention and infectious diseases fields.

Infectious Disease Futures: Trainee Scientist Spotlight will focus on trainee presenters and their research. You could have the opportunity to present your work during this session by submitting an abstract, and could win a bursary to present your work at the Microbiology Society Annual Conference – a fantastic networking opportunity. This will be followed by a session hosted by the Royal College of Pathologists on navigating their assessments.

To help you make the most of your continuing professional development at the conference, FIS 2019 has been accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (84 CPD credits), Royal College of Pathologists (41 CPD credits) and the Institute of Biomedical Science (category: Professional Activity). Further information on accreditation will be available soon.

Submit your abstract by Monday 19 August.
