The Microbiology Society is coordinating a response to the recently launched Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) consultation on the proposed amendments of the Health Protection (Notification) Regulations 2010 (HPNR). The HPNR is a list of diseases that medical professionals must legally report if they treat a patient they know, or suspect to be, infected or contaminated with that disease. It helps the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) respond quickly to suspected cases of infectious disease that could have an impact on public health.
