Access Microbiology is an open research platform. It supports the publication of replication studies, negative or null results, research proposals, data management plans, additions to established methods, case reports, software development, educational and outreach methods, and interdisciplinary work. We welcome work from the full spectrum of microscopic life forms, from bacteria and viruses to fungi, protists, archaea, and algae.

We are looking to appoint Editors to play a vital role in Access Microbiology, ensuring the publication of high-quality research and fostering engagement within the Microbiology community. We’re particularly interested in applicants with experience in the fields of Clinical Microbiology and Genome sequencing.

Responsibilities include overseeing peer review processes, making crucial editorial decisions, encouraging suitable contributions to the platform and act as a platform advocate. This position is unpaid but offers benefits such as one fee-free Open Access article a year, and access to an external conference travel fund, among others.

This is a great opportunity for experts in microbiology to shape the platform's future and contribute to the dissemination of research.

Please see the full role description and details of how to apply on our jobs page. The closing date for applications is 30 September 2025.

Please email your CV and cover letter explaining how you meet the person specification and your motivation for applying for the role to Ffion-Haf Watson at [email protected].
