The Microbiology Society is pleased to announce that authors submitting to all our journals are now able to deposit their supporting data in the repository figshare.

Previously, only authors submitting to the mandatory open data journal, Microbial Genomics, could use the Society’s figshare portal, but in a continued commitment to open data, this has now been made available to authors in all journals, to support them in making their research as open as possible. The Microbiology Society supports open data and the FAIR principles, and encourages all authors to deposit the data underlying their research, where possible.

Authors choosing to use our figshare will have a link to their data included in the manuscript during peer review and if the article is accepted, the supporting data will be published with its own citable DOI and will be viewable from your article on our website. The data will also be hosted on the journal’s figshare portal with a link to your article, allowing for greater discovery and reuse of your work. Authors wishing to use the Society figshare portal are encouraged to contact the Editorial Office who will be happy to assist you in doing this.
