The second annual London Infection Postdoc Network (LIPN) symposium, an event organised by Early Career Researchers (ECRs) for ECRs, was held on the 10^th  June at the Francis Crick Institute. The LIPN Committee, is looking back on their ongoing learning experiences and the lessons learned after two symposiums, ten seminars and more than two years of collaboration.

On 8-11 April 2024, we hosted the Annual Conference 2024 in ICC Edinburgh. We’ve turned to X (formerly known as Twitter) to look back at some of the highlights!

Dr Claas Kirchhelle from University College Dublin will be giving the Hot Topic Lecture: "Faecal Flows – a very short history of microbiology, sewers, and Britain's rivers (ca.1850-2023)" at this years Annual Conference. Clare spoke to Claas to find out how he's feeling ahead of his lecture and to pick his brain about his intriguing research area.

Dr Aisling Brady and Yueyi Cai take us through their experiences in public outreach at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, bridging the gap between scientific breakthroughs and public awareness. 

Dr Monika Gostic takes us behind the scenes of their latest publication 'Reflections on the Teaching Symposium at the Microbiology Society Annual Conference 2023' published in Access Microbiology.

The Microbiology Society Infection Science Award aims to support the exchange of ideas and the career development of promising early career and trainee researchers, helping to translate microbiological research to the clinic. The scheme facilitates selected presenters from the Infection Forum at Annual Conference to present their work at the Federation of Infection Society (FIS) conference.
