Science in Emergencies UK Lessons from Ebola

MT Nov 2015 MBS Logo The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee launched an inquiry to examine what lessons had been learned from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, regarding the use of scientific expertise in the UK for similar disease outbreak emergencies in the future. The Microbiology Society, jointly with the Society for Applied Microbiology, submitted written evidence to the inquiry, which highlighted the use and importance of microbiology expertise during the Ebola epidemic and other disease emergencies, and how government could more effectively support and mobilise this expertise.
