Microbiomes Underpinning Agriculture - a view from Twitter

The Microbiomes Underpinning Agriculture Focused Meeting took place at the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork, Ireland, between 1–2 October. We’ve turned to Twitter to look at some of the highlights of the meeting.
While the last preparations were being made at the venue, delegates used their journeys to Cork to share their excitement about the upcoming event.
The morning kicked off with a welcome address from organiser Fiona Brennan.
Which was followed by a morning of talks on plant and soil microbiomes.
Great talk by @Alex_deMenezes from @nuigalway about the microbiome of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone @MicrobioSoc #MUAFM18. Great to see a former @UCDSBES colleague doing so well! pic.twitter.com/gsxpSbuHEi— Evelyn Doyle (@EMD51) October 1, 2018
Lunch and an evening drinks reception provided the chance to network, socialise and to view the more than 50 posters on display.
Poster presentation by @MGrauButinyac at #MUAFM18 describing her work on the effect of soil pH and P on functional microbial communities involved in N cycling, interesting work! @MAGGE_pH @Soilmicrobio pic.twitter.com/zTBZsVHckr— FACCE ERA-GAS (@FACCE_ERAGAS) October 1, 2018
Congratulations to the Microbial Genomics Poster Prize winner, Gareth Raynes, as well as to Nicholas Waters and Céline Ribière for winning the 2nd and 3rd prizes!
Day two kicked off with talks on animal microbiomes, followed by a Microbiome Methods workshop at Moorepark Food Research Centre.
Some great talks on animal microbiomes #MUAFM18 @MicrobioSoc this morning. Back at base @teagasc Moorepark for the Microbiome Methods workshop. Looking forward to learning some more metagenomic analysis techniques.— Chloe Matthews (@Chloe_M_tt) October 2, 2018
Fantastic to have the final session in Moorepark Teagasc. Including a very interesting tour around the labs! To top it all off, we saw the largest sequencing facility in Ireland! #MUAFM18 @teagasc @MicrobioSoc https://t.co/kezy2KvzgK— Aoife Duff (@AoifeDuff2) October 2, 2018
