Publish and Read one year on

There are no publishing limits, and so no approval mechanism required; the more you use it, the better value it is for your University. So far, 118 institutions have signed up meaning authors have “… fee-free Open Access publishing, eliminating article processing charges which are costly”

Professor Tracy Palmer, Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University, UK

“It is clear that Open Access not only allows for easier and wider access to manuscripts, resulting in more reads, downloads and citations; but it also enables your research to reach a wider audience, benefiting all”.

Professor Mark Harris (University of Leeds, UK, General Secretary of the Microbiology Society) and Professor Paul Duprex (University of Pittsburgh, USA, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of General Virology)

Further improvements are planned for infrastructure, author workflow and reporting to our Publish and Read model. More institutions, including those from consortium and national groups worldwide, are also set to be welcomed to the Society’s Publish and Read model this year.

“The Microbiology Society’s Publish and Read [deal] helps change classic publishing models, is easy to implement, removes financial administration from the workflow of our researchers, and helps us to fulfill the Open Science agenda of our organisation”.

Just de Leeuwe, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands

If you know you would benefit from Publish and Read you can submit a Library Recommendation Form to your library contact or Open Access officer.
