Sustainability Committee

The Sustainability Committee reports to Advisory Council and is primarily responsible for overseeing the delivery of strategic objective three.

‘By recognising global differences in accessing opportunities at the Microbiology Society, we will build on existing strong financial and governance foundations to reinforce long-term sustainability and resilience through diversifying income streams, increasing efficiency and ensuring robust mechanisms for decision-making, monitoring and evaluation.’

Growing future leaders is at the core of the Sustainability Committee’s remit. This remit gives the Committee oversight over a broad range of Society activities where the success of those activities depends on the close alignment between the content we offer and the long-term needs to the microbiology community. The Committee advises the Society on changing trends in microbiologists’ publishing needs, career paths, professional development objectives and more to ensure that our offering remains relevant for years to come. The Committee also plays a role in fostering collaborations with other organisations and diversifying income from both commercial and philanthropic sources.
