75 years of publishing Microbiology

Since its launch in 1947, the landscape of microbiology research has changed dramatically and the profile of publications, authors, and research topics has changed with it. The ‘75 years of Microbiology’ collection celebrates our past and highlights articles which have shaped and advanced the field of microbiology. The articles in this collection have been selected by the Senior Editors of Microbiology, and in the associated Editorial they highlight the impact that these papers have had and how they influenced the research that followed.

Discover the articles in this collection on our website and find our previous collections on the 75th anniversary hub. In 2022, Microbiology’s anniversary year, we look to an Open Access future. Keep an eye on the anniversary hub to be the first to see new anniversary content and activities, and find out how you can get involved in the 75th anniversary and support your Society journal on its journey to Open Access.

The Microbiology Society is a not-for-profit publisher and we support and invest in the microbiology community. All journals income is invested back into the Society through providing grants, facilitating policy activities, funding conferences, and other activities.
