Celebrate the Society’s LGBTQ+ community at Annual Conference 2022
The event is being organised by two of our Champions, Bruno Francesco Rodrigues de Oliveira (Fluminense Federal University, Brazil) and Daniel Gonçalves-Carneiro (Rockefeller University, USA) alongside co-Chair of our Members Panel, Kevin Maringer (The Pirbright Institute, UK).Recently, the Society conducted a survey for LGBTQ+ members, to highlight their experiences in both the workplace and their involvement with the Society. The event will be a great opportunity for LGBTQ+ members to come together to discuss issues raised in the survey, challenges that LGBTQ+ microbiologists face and how the Society can better support LGBTQ+ scientists in the future. Participants will have the opportunity to talk about their experiences as well as network with other LGBTQ+ members.
The event will take place from 18:30–20:00 on Tuesday 5 April 2022 in the Lounge at Robinsons Bar. The venue is located just one minute’s walk from Belfast City Hall, where the sold-out Microbiology 75th Anniversary drinks reception will take place from 20:00 that evening.
