Hot Topic Lecture taking place today: ‘The ‘post-truth’ world, science, and vaccinations’
The lecture will examine some presumed causes for the trends of ‘post-truth’ politicians and ‘fake news’ and how they are expressed in people’s attitudes towards scientific propositions with a particular focus on vaccinations.
Stephan Lewandowsky is a Professor of Cognitive Science at the University of Bristol, working on computational modelling. His research focuses on the spread of misinformation in society, and what determines whether people accept scientific evidence or not, particularly on the topics of climate science and vaccinations.
