Written by Mark Harris, Professor of Virology at the University of Leeds, the editorial discusses the purpose of the workshop, recurring themes from the day, and the research being conducted by the microbiology community in the UK and Ireland.
The Microbiology Society, in consultation with members of the virology community, held an online workshop on SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 to support ongoing and future research around the pandemic.
The SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 Online Workshop took place on Wednesday 29 July 2020 and bought together researchers from labs across the UK to discuss research on topics including the virus and its genes, pathology and immunology, and therapeutics and vaccines. We’ve turned to Twitter to take a look back at the day.
In this episode of Microbe Talk, we spoke to Professor Peter O’Hare, Dr Lindsay Broadbent and Dr Steve Griffin about ongoing SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19 research in the UK.
