Membership FAQs

Can I join online?

You can join online paying either by credit/debit card, or direct debit if you hold a bank account in the United Kingdom. Please note we do not accept American Express.

I pay by Direct Debit. How can I renew my membership?

If you currently pay your subscription by Direct Debit you do not need to do anything to renew it. We will advise you before the payment is taken in case there are any changes you wish to make to your membership for the following year.

I would like to change the way I pay my subscription.

If you would like to change the way you pay your subscription please contact the Membership Office.

I would like to change my membership grade.

If you would like to change your membership grade please contact the Membership Office. Please note, we will usually make changes at the end of your current year's membership.

What do I do if I can't find my login details?

You will need to request a new password, which you can do by clicking on the 'Forgotten Password' button in the login area.

How do I find out what grants are available?

A full list of grants, their eligibility criteria and a timetable for applying can be found on the Grants section of our website.

How long does membership last?

Membership is for twelve months from the date of joining.

My membership has lapsed. Can I re-join online?

Yes, probably. Please contact the Membership Office who will set you up to re-join online.

I don’t seem to be receiving Microbiology Today magazine.

Please contact the Membership Office to determine what the problem is.

My membership details need updating – how can I do this?

You can update these details yourself by logging in to the website.
